This was one of those swells that just felt different. Bigger than what anyone really expected. Morocco was doing its thing — lines stacking all the way to the horizon, clean, heavy, just rolling in forever.
I remember just standing there for a while, not even shooting. Just watching. It didn’t feel like the ocean had an end that day. Just line after line, like it was coming from somewhere way out there you can’t even see. At some point I grabbed the camera, almost without thinking. Went slow shutter. I didn’t want to freeze it — I wanted to stretch it. Let it breathe, let it feel like what it actually looked like in my head.
It’s not really about the swell itself. Not about how big it was or how crazy the day felt. It’s more about that constant motion underneath. That rhythm. The way the ocean just keeps going, no matter what. Looking at it now, it actually reminds me a lot of where I was back then. Just starting to mess around, trying things, not overthinking. Just seeing what happens.
